Programs

Clear service categories that align with urgent family needs.

KinderHeart’s services are organized around the practical areas where families most often need help: housing, public benefits, immigrant support, emergency stabilization, and accessible communication.

Housing stability

Housing Assistance

Support includes referrals to shelters, transitional housing, rental assistance, Section 8 opportunities, and related housing resources for individuals and families experiencing instability.

Public benefits

DPSS Navigation

KinderHeart helps community members understand and apply for CalFresh, Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, General Relief, and other essential public support systems.

Immigrant support

Know Your Rights & Legal Referrals

The program provides immigrant rights education, legal aid referrals, and DACA-related assistance to help families connect with trusted information and support.

Crisis response

Emergency Aid

Limited one-time help may be available for urgent needs such as food, rent, utilities, or transportation when a household is experiencing immediate crisis.

Multilingual access is part of every service area.

KinderHeart’s model recognizes that access is not only about availability, but also about whether families can understand the process, trust the setting, and communicate in a language that feels safe and familiar.

Program delivery principles

  • Services offered in English, Khmer, and Spanish
  • Referral-based collaboration with legal and housing partners
